U.S. Grand Lodges' Withdrawal of recognition of the
GLF in
the 1950s and 1960s
Alabama
The Grand Lodge of Alabama recognized the GLF in 1918, and
continued to recognize the GLF for 47 years, until 1965.
In the meantime, in 1952 the Grand Lodge of Alabama recognized
the GLNF, while still recognizing the GLF.
The Grand Lodge of Alabama recognized both the GLF and the GLNF
for 13 years, from 1952 through 1965.
Arkansas
The Grand Lodge of Arkansas recognized the GLF in 1919, and was
reported by the Commission on Information for Recognition of the Conference of
Grand Masters of Masons in North America to still recognize the GLF as of 1960.
It is not clear when this recognition was withdrawn.
In the meantime, in 1953 the Grand Lodge of Arkansas recognized
the GLNF, while still recognizing the GLF (according to the Commission on
Information for Recognition).
The Grand Lodge of Arkansas recognized both the GLF and the GLNF
simultaneously for some years, according to the Commission on Information for
Recognition.
California
The Grand Lodge of California recognized the GLF in 1918, and
continued to recognize the GLF for 44 years, until 1962.
In the meantime, in 1925 the Grand Lodge of California
recognized the GLNF, while still recognizing the GLF.
The Grand Lodge of California recognized both the GLF and the
GLNF for 37 years, from 1925 through 1962.
District of Columbia (Washington DC)
The Grand Lodge of D.C. recognized the GLF in 1917, and
continued to recognize the GLF for 49 years, until 1966.
In the meantime, in 1953 the Grand Lodge of D.C. recognized the
GLNF, while still recognizing the GLF.
The Grand Lodge of D.C. recognized both the GLF and the GLNF for
13 years, from 1953 through 1966.
Iowa
The Grand Lodge of Iowa recognized the GLF in 1918, and was
reported by the Commission on Information for Recognition of the Conference of
Grand Masters of Masons in North America to still recognize the GLF as of 1960.
It is not clear when this recognition was withdrawn.
In the meantime, in 1952 the Grand Lodge of Iowa recognized the

The Grand Lodge of Louisiana recognized the GLF in 1918, and

In the meantime, in 1958 the Grand Lodge of Louisiana recognized
the GLNF, while still recognizing the GLF.
The Grand Lodge of Louisiana recognized both the GLF and the
GLNF for 9 years, from 1958 through 1967.

Michigan
It is not clear when the Grand Lodge of Michigan recognized the
GLF, but it withdrew recognition of the GLF in 1960.
In the meantime, in 1948 the Grand Lodge of Michigan recognized
the GLNF, apparently while still recognizing the GLF.
The Grand Lodge of Michigan appears to have recognized both the
GLF and the GLNF at the same time for some years.
Missouri
It is not clear when the Grand Lodge of Missouri recognized the
GLF, but it withdrew recognition of the GLF in 1964.
In the meantime, in 1914 the Grand Lodge of Missouri recognized
the GLNF, apparently while still recognizing the GLF.
The Grand Lodge of Missouri appears to have recognized both the
GLF and the GLNF at the same time for some years.
New Jersey
The Grand Lodge of New Jersey recognized the GLF in 1918, and

Utah
The Grand Lodge of Utah recognized the GLF in 1919. It is not
clear when this recognition was withdrawn, but it was definitely after 1955.
In 1955 the Grand Lodge of Utah recognized the GLNF, while

The Grand Lodge of Utah recognized both the GLF and the GLNF
simultaneously for some years.
Vermont
The Grand Lodge of Vermont withdrew recognition of the GLF in
1965, but it is not clear when it started this recognition.
In 1925 the Grand Lodge of Vermont recognized the GLNF and
continued that recognition to the present time.
Therefore, it appears the Grand Lodge of Vermont recognized both
the GLF and the GLNF simultaneously for some years.
Wisconsin
The Grand Lodge of Wisconsin withdrew recognition of the GLF in
1958, AFTER it had already recognized the GLNF. It is not clear when this
recognition was withdrawn, but of course it had to be after 1958.
In 1955 the Grand Lodge of Wisconsin recognized the GLNF, and
continued that recognition to the present time.
Therefore, the Grand Lodge of Wisconsin recognized both the GLF
and the GLNF simultaneously for some years.
